Edward Perry, who founded the business in 1947, had been a product demonstrator for Hoover vacuum since before World War II, Hoover manufactured war supplies instead of vacuums and during this time Edward was still out selling. Following the war, Hoover had hundreds of bond tags for vacuums that were paid for all Edward had to do was deliver them.

In 1950, when the Hoover company began phasing out its outside sales force, Edward Perry saw and opportunity to be in business for  himself and opened storefront location in conjunction with another local appliance company, Repps, Inc.

In 1962 Edward bought a property at 1501 9th St. in Greeley, Upon which he had built a store front that would become Perry's Vacuum Center.

Today Hoover is no longer a leader in high quality products, having ran into financial troubles in the mid 1990's.

Hoover is now owned and operated by the Chinese company Techtronic Industries of China.

In 1974 Edward and his wife Goldie wanted to retire, and sold the business to their son and daughter in law Darrell and Henrietta Perry. In 1976 their son Joseph began working in the business at the age of 13. Not long after all of Darrell and Henrietta's children began working in the business as well, Debra and Jackie. They were involved working in the business up until Debra left and went to California with her soon to be husband Daniel Mcgovern. In later years their daughter Jackie also left the business to home school her children. Jackie is married to Jerry Bellendir.

Together Darrell and Henrietta  operated the business successfully up until Darrell passed away in 2005.

Henrietta and Joseph together continued to operate the business up until 2016 when Henrietta decided she wanted to retire.

Today the business continues on as Perry Vac & Sew with Joseph at the helm. Joseph is married to Tessi Lee Thomas.

In the early 1980's Darrell could see the begin decline of the Hoover company. Darrell found this up and coming company based in Fullerton California, that company was Riccar America.

Riccar was producing a high quality product overseas. However to maintain quality control every machine produced overseas had to be inspected state side before being released for sale. That process was very expensive and in the mid 1990's Riccar along with their now parent company Tacony corporation of Saint Louis Missouri, decided to move production to Missouri.

Today almost all of Riccar products are made in Saint James Missouri.

Perrys now carries lots of quality brands including Miele a German brand, and Royal a Chinese brand and Dyson a
